Position HighlightsThe laboratory of Dr. Christopher Glembotski, Director of the Translational Cardiovascular Research Center (TCRC) at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix invites highly motivated candidates to apply for a Researcher/Scientist III position in his NIH‑funded lab. The successful candidate should have training in the broad area of biomedical sciences and specifically, molecular and cellular biology, and experience with designing, organizing, managing and carrying out research in a cell and molecular biology laboratory setting.
This position involves analyzing research hypotheses using controlled investigations, experiments, and/or trials for research on cardiovascular disease using cell models of cardiac pathology, with a goal toward translating basic science findings to clinically viable potential therapeutics. The position is best suited for someone who is detail‑oriented, conscientious, and able to follow instructions and communicate in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing.

Duties & Responsibilities- Plan, design and conduct advanced, multi‑disciplinary research involving molecular and cellular biology.
- Perform analysis of cell models of cardiac pathology, using clinical lab‑based methods, and supervise and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all clinical work.
- Formulate, troubleshoot and optimize research methods and techniques as needed.
- Complete complex research projects at different stages (advanced through nearly completed).
- Recommend solutions for research methodology by interpreting principles and analyzing complex facts.
- Perform aspects related to cellular and molecular biology research that include, but are not limited to:
- qRT‑PCR
- Immunoblotting
- Immunocytofluorescence
- Histological preparations and imaging
- Cell culture
- Molecular cloning
- Generation of DNA expression constructs
- Development and preparation of adenoviruses and adeno‑associated viruses for expression construct gene transfer
- Review and edit protocols to ensure coherence, completeness, and consistency.
- Assist in acquiring research funding through the preparation of grant proposals.
- Contribute to the writing and research for publications and presentations.
- Guide the work of others and/or provide guidance to a specialized laboratory or research area.
- Manage daily laboratory operations, including supplies ordering and lab inventories related to cellular and molecular biology techniques that will include common use items (e.g., compressed gas, dry ice and liquid nitrogen).
- Coordinate laboratory activities and manage lab equipment.
- Data analysis, spreadsheet management, and data presentations.
- Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies inventory.
- Serve as the biosafety and chemical safety officer for TCRC, including the management of all lab safety and approval protocols.
- Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation.
- Skilled in grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.
