Duties & Responsibilities- Under the supervision of the PI and senior lab personnel, develop, plan, design, refine, and conduct research.
- Maintain clear, detailed laboratory notebooks and electronic files with experimental procedures, calculations, and data.
- Conduct library searches to find information on related procedures and techniques that can be used in the laboratory.
- Summarize project work by documenting findings and procedures used; conduct literature reviews and background research, and assist with report writing, including preparing bibliographies as needed.
- Assist with compiling data and generating computerized statistical data for analytical purposes using software packages.
- Coordinate the acquisition of lab supplies, including inventory and ordering.
- Perform cleaning, sterilization, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on machinery, instruments, and equipment used in research.
- Assist with ensuring regulatory compliance of the research program and participate in routine lab inspections.
- Maintain detailed records of chemicals used in the laboratory and arrange for waste disposal according to established procedures.
- Assist with creating and managing laboratory-shared spreadsheets and inventory logs.
- Provide routine and technical administrative support to research projects.
- Support the development and broadening of knowledge in cancer immunology through independent reading and participation in seminars.
- Participate in journal club and laboratory meetings.
- Prepare and present results at laboratory meetings and conferences.
- Assist with manuscript preparation for publication, including data generation and analysis, generating figures, drafting manuscript text, and online submission.
- Contribute to securing research funding by supplying data for grant proposals and progress reports.
- Compare and evaluate technologies for research projects.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline.
- Ability to set up and perform a variety of lab or field tests and operations.
- Skilled in recording results, making observations, analyzing data, and interpreting test results.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM.
- Coursework in immunology.
- Previous research experience (internship, independent study, employment).
- Experience with multicolor flow cytometry, APC and T cell isolation from lymphoid organs and tumors, ELISPOT, mouse models of cancer, and cell culture.
