Postdoctoral Research Associate – Department of Basic Medical Sciences
Dr. Xia Xiao’s laboratory in the Department of Basic Medical Science is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying liver fibrosis, focusing on BMP‑SMAD signaling and iron dysregulation.
Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct advanced, multidisciplinary research in iron metabolism and liver diseases under Dr. Xiao.
- Design, develop and execute complex research projects, employing independent judgment.
- Perform animal studies and imaging, and maintain detailed experimental records.
- Present findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences, and prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Contribute to grant writing, including preliminary data generation, application submissions, and progress reporting.
- Assist in supervising laboratory staff and support daily lab operations.
- Excellent laboratory and analytical skills with a commitment to scientific excellence.
- Proficiency in statistics, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Ability to conduct research independently and as part of a team, and to communicate findings clearly in oral and written form.
- Experience with grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- PhD in Metabolism, Physiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with animal models; experience with iPSC‑derived organoids, flow cytometry (FACS), and primary liver cell isolation is desirable.
- Track record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Interest in signaling transduction.
- Experience in iron metabolism and liver pathophysiology.
