Research Technician III, Department of Internal Medicine (Phoenix)
A self‑motivated research technician III is needed in Dr. Iannis Adamopoulos's laboratory. The incumbent will perform a variety of laboratory tasks and experiments that directly support the primary research focus. Under the PI’s and senior lab personnel’s instructions, the engineer will order and manage laboratory supplies; manage and genotype mouse colonies; perform histology and immunostaining; generate confocal images; make detailed observations;
quantitatively analyze data; and interpret results. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects in the lab.
- Performs experiments in histology and immunostaining, imaging (confocal, MP).
- Maintains laboratory supplies, logs, and record books; inventories, places orders, and verifies receipt.
- Maintains genetically modified mouse colonies, including rodent work and related experimentation (dissections, injections of biological compounds, minor and major surgeries).
- Performs RNA extraction / real‑time PCR, protein extraction / Western blot, and cell culture.
- Collects, prepares, and catalogs tissue samples.
- Knowledge of basic molecular and cell biology techniques.
- Ability to collect experimental data and handle animals.
- Self‑motivated and readily learns and adapts to new techniques.
- Works effectively and efficiently both independently and as a member of a team.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, reports experimental progress or problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to follow instructions and keep detailed experimental records.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.
- High‑school diploma or equivalency.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and research experience.
- Research experience in a research laboratory.
- Prior experience working with small animals.
- Experience in scope/imaging, cell culture, molecular biology, and histology.
