Position Highlights
- Health Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for a Researcher/Scientist III to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of lung injury, repair, and fibrotic remodeling. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility capable of utilizing various advanced approaches. The candidate will be mentored in career development toward independent research and training to become a principle investigator.

Conduct advanced, multi-disciplinary research requiring knowledge of standard scientific protocols and principles. Troubleshoot and modify procedures and techniques when appropriate. Develop, design, and conduct complex research projects according to research protocol. Adapt new methods to existing procedures and modify current experiments through scientific knowledge and intuition. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Derive, analyze, and format data for publications, presentations, and grant proposals.
Perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Independently reproduce, evaluate, research, and improve techniques currently used. Discuss relevant insights about experimental results with Faculty and provide useful recommendations and analysis. Present results at laboratory meetings, conferences, and publish papers. Ensure regulatory compliance of research activities. Write and submit grant proposals which includes preparing technical and/or scientific proposals for grants, developing and coordinating budgets, administrative elements, and needed materials.
Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing. Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings. Ability to develop reports and present in tabular, oral, written, and graphic formats. Proficiency in using computers to automate tasks.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or other sciences field of study required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred QualificationsPhD degree. Microscopy experience, particularly fluorescence and confocal imaging and analysis. Flow cytometry, animal model. Experience with histology, immunohistochemistry and protein analysis.
