Position Highlights
The Child Health Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to study metabolic syndrome-associated cardiovascular diseases. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team in an outstanding new facility equipped to employ a range of advanced approaches. The candidate will be mentored in career development toward independent research and training to become a principal investigator.
Enthusiastic applicants with several years of research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, cellular, molecular, and biological sciences, or clinical medicine are encouraged to apply.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork with metabolic syndrome models, electrocardiography, cardiac function analysis, cardiac pathology, primary cardiomyocyte isolation and treatment, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
Work with mice colonies.
Develop innovative experimental strategies and adapt methodologies to address complex scientific questions.
Generate high-quality data to support grant submissions, publications, and future research initiatives.
Oversee a defined research area or laboratory function, ensuring projects progress according to established goals and timelines.
Coordinate day-to-day research activities, including experimental planning, reagent monitoring, and equipment management.
Mentor and train postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in animal procedures, tissue processing, molecular assays, and cell culture techniques.
Provide leadership for junior staff and support personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to best practices.
Maintain compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements related to research activities.
Contribute to grant development efforts, including drafting proposals and supporting funding applications.
Analyze and interpret complex data sets, applying advanced subject‑matter expertise and industry best practices.
Communicate findings effectively with internal leadership, collaborators, and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and/or graphic formats.
Ability to participate in scientific conferences and present findings.
Minimum QualificationsPhD or MD in Science or a related field of study.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with echocardiography, cardiac function analysis, primary cardiomyocyte isolation and treatment, and microscopy.
Experience working with mouse metabolic syndrome models.
