Assistant Research Positions
Assistants are needed to help with ongoing research on wildlife-habitat relationships and the effects of forest management in the Northeastern USA. The research assistants will work with AUNE faculty and collaborators.
Part of the work in the spring and summer will entail conducting bird surveys in sites and putting out audio recorders, often where forest management and silviculture has occurred (20 hours/week). Continued work during future semesters will entail organizing, managing, and analyzing the collected data (20 hours/week), including listening to audio files collected from field recordings. Besides birds, some recorders will be set out for bats as well.
Qualifications include interest in research that focuses on wildlife-habitat relationships in forests, excellent attention to detail, excellent data management and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, quantitative skills; ability to use Excel, R, and ArcGIS. Federal work study funds are also required.
