Overview

The newly established School of Technology for Public Health (STPH) at Arizona State University (ASU) is launching an exciting, first‑of‑its‑kind Precision Public Health Initiative and is inviting applications for highly successful research‑intensive faculty members and center directors (tenured associate or full professor) to establish research centers and build a nationally distinctive engine for health transformation.

The School of Technology for Public Health is pioneering a new field to reimagine public health infrastructure and innovation in the 21st century, creating more integrative, responsive and resilient systems to protect the health of people in Arizona and beyond. It is the first institution in the nation to train students to be bilingual in public health and technology.

The Precision Public Health Initiative is a school‑wide strategic effort designed to close the gap between discovery and population health impact. By integrating multi‑scale data—from the molecular to the societal—the initiative will leverage emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, digital health, virtual and augmented reality, and edge computing, to deliver the right intervention to the right population at the right time.

To significantly expand its research enterprise, the school is establishing interdisciplinary research centers that will conduct foundational and applied research in key thematic areas, including mental health, substance use, women’s health, children’s health, cardiometabolic disorders, infectious diseases, injury prevention, and indigenous health.

ASU seeks investigators with a demonstrated track‑record of conducting foundational and applied research, drawing from the following areas (but not limited to):

• Artificial intelligence and machine learning
• Spatial and environmental health
• Digital health and wearables
• Precision policy design
• Infodemiology and health communication

• Establish and lead an interdisciplinary research center focused on Precision Public Health.
• Conduct and oversee both foundational and applied research in the designated thematic area.
• Secure and manage funding, build collaborative partnerships, and grow the research enterprise.
• Mentor students, postdoctoral scholars, and junior faculty within the center.
• Engage with local communities, health departments, and national leaders to translationally apply research findings.
