Dr. Xia Xiao’s laboratory seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher focused on uncovering the cellular and molecular mechanisms of liver fibrosis. The research emphasizes BMP-SMAD signaling, iron dysregulation, and the development of novel therapeutic strategies for chronic liver diseases.
This position is part of a well‑funded program offering opportunities to contribute to high‑impact publications, develop an independent research trajectory, and prepare for future grant funding. The candidate will receive strong mentorship in scientific development and career advancement. The position is eligible for visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities- Conduct advanced, multidisciplinary research in iron metabolism and liver diseases under the direction of Dr. Xia Xiao.
- Design, develop, and execute complex research projects.
- Formulate research methods, develop criteria, and perform data collection and analysis using independent judgment.
- Foster collaborations within the department and with other university units.
- Perform animal studies and imaging.
- Maintain detailed experimental records and analyze findings.
- Present results at laboratory meetings and conferences.
- Prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, submitting grant applications, and preparing progress reports.
- Develop and implement experimental protocols.
- Assist with supervision of laboratory staff.
- Contribute to daily laboratory operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent laboratory and analytical skills with a commitment to scientific excellence.
- Knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Ability to conduct research independently and in a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- Experience presenting at scientific conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Metabolism, Physiology, Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunology, Physiology, Nutritional Sciences, or a related field.
- Track record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Interest in signal transduction.
- Experience in iron metabolism and liver pathophysiology.
