About Supplement FactoryAt Supplement Factory, we are passionate about creating top-tier supplements for brands around the world. Our success is built on innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to exceptional client service. We champion an inclusive and supportive workplace, encouraging our people to grow and contribute to our dynamic journey in supplement manufacturing.
About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and scientifically minded Scientific Formulator to join our dynamic New Product Development team. Working remotely, you will play a crucial role in the early stages of supplement creation, supporting the development of bespoke food supplement formulations from scratch across capsules, tablets, powders and liquid gels.
This role is only suitable for candidates who have previous hands-on experience working in food supplement formulation. Candidates without direct experience formulating food supplements will not be considered.
Reporting directly to our Senior Formulation Scientist, this role is focused on the technical creation, review and refinement of food supplement formulations. This is not a client-facing role and does not involve sales support. Instead, you will work internally to translate project briefs and change requests into accurate, safe and commercially suitable formulation tables, supporting the wider formulation and NPD function with a high level of technical accuracy.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with proven food supplement formulation experience, strong ingredient knowledge, an understanding of dosage suitability and the ability to create commercially viable formulations that deliver the intended product experience.
Key Responsibilities- Bespoke Formulation Development:
Create accurate and technically sound food supplement formulations from scratch based on internal project briefs, considering ingredient purpose, safe dosage levels, product format and intended product effect. - Formulation Tables:
Generate detailed formulation tables that clearly outline ingredient choices, dosage levels, active contributions and technical considerations across capsules, tablets, powders and liquid gels. - Ingredient Selection:
Research and evaluate ingredients for suitability within food supplement formulations, considering efficacy, safety, dosage ranges, ingredient compatibility, regulatory suitability and commercial practicality. - Product Experience Consideration:
Understand how ingredient choices can impact product experience, including taste, texture, colour, solubility, serving size, capsule/tablet suitability and overall consumer experience. - Client Change Requests:
Review client change requests internally and translate changes in desired effect, product positioning or ingredient preference into appropriate formulation adjustments. - Formulation Pack Review:
Check, edit and refine formulation packs to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, clarity and alignment with project requirements before internal progression. - Regulatory Awareness:
Apply an understanding of food supplement regulatory considerations when drafting and reviewing formulations. An understanding of EFSA regulations is highly desirable. - Collaboration:
Work closely and effectively with the Senior Formulation Scientist and wider NPD team via remote communication tools, providing regular updates and support on formulation tasks. - Documentation:
Maintain clear, organised and accurate records of draft formulations, formulation tables, ingredient research and related technical information.
We are looking for a motivated individual with proven experience in food supplement formulation. You must have previously worked on the creation, review or development of food supplement formulations and be confident working with ingredient dosages, active contributions, product formats and technical formulation decisions.
This is not a trainee role. Candidates must already understand how to build food supplement formulations and how to translate a product brief into ingredient and dosage choices.
You should possess strong technical aptitude, a scientific approach to problem solving and a keen eye for detail. You will be comfortable working independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong communication with internal technical teams.
KeySkills and Experience:
- Previous hands-on experience working in food supplement formulation is essential. Candidates without direct food supplement formulation experience will not be considered.
- Experience creating or supporting formulations across supplement formats such as capsules, tablets, powders and liquid gels.
- Strong understanding of food supplement ingredients, their functions, dosage considerations and formulation principles.
- Ability to understand desired product effects and translate them into suitable ingredient and dosage choices.
- Understanding of safe dosage levels, ingredient…
