Summary
There is no pay associated with this position. This position serves as a Without Compensation (WOC) Research Health Science Specialist within the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The WOC - Research Health Science Specialist will provide scientific support and coordination on several VA projects as directed. They will handle project questions and problems independently in coordination with the Principal Investigator.

- Experience: General experience providing operational support and coordination for research projects, including managing timelines and deliverables for successful completion of projects; writing research policies, guidelines, and procedures; and facilitating compliance with all regulatory and administrative research project requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations.
- Education: A bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences. (Copies of transcripts are required at the time of application.)

Experience:
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training directly transferrable to paid employment. Applicants receiving credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours per week spent in such employment. A full year of work is considered 35‑40 hours per week and part‑time experience will be credited based on time actually spent in appropriate activities.
Physical Requirements: The work is predominantly sedentary; the employee will sit comfortably to perform tasks. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items of moderate weight (e.g., binders, file boxes, meeting materials, books). Hand and eye coordination for delicate testing procedures may be required.
