26557 Department COM Phx Child Health Department Website Link College of Medicine-Phoenix Location Greater Phoenix Area Address 475 N. 5th St., Phoenix, AZ 85004 USA Position Highlights The Research Technician II supports Dr. Farkas' laboratory by assisting with scientific investigation to study the molecular mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension in the Farkas pulmonary vascular research Lab in the Department of Child Health and the Phoenix Children's Research Institute.

Independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis. The candidate will also assist senior staff and the PI in day-to-day research activities and training as needed. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or other science field of study.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Assist with experiments by performing a variety of basic molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis.

* Sort and process tissue and blood samples.

* Collect, record, and organize experimental data accurately to support analysis and reporting needs for research projects.

* Maintain laboratory organization, equipment, and supplies through routine checks and restocking to ensure smooth daily operations.

* Follow all institutional safety, ethical, and regulatory protocols in daily research activities to maintain compliance and laboratory safety.

* Support senior staff and the Principal Investigator with day-to-day laboratory tasks and experimental planning to facilitate research progress.

* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment using various methods, providing basic guidance to

colleagues when needed to ensure proper equipment function.

* Prepare technical reports, summaries, and experimental documentation to track research progress and results for

review by senior staff.

* Assist in implementing refined procedures to meet specific experimental requirements under the guidance of senior researchers.

* Coordinate laboratory supplies by tracking inventory and ensuring materials are available for ongoing

experiments to prevent research delays.

* Conduct routine laboratory experiments under general supervision, adhering to established protocols and applying various technical methods as needed.

* Participate in calibration and validation of laboratory instruments to ensure accurate and reliable experimental

results.

* Maintain detailed records of procedures, observations, and results to support overall research integrity and

regulatory compliance.

* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.

* Ability to work with sensitive information and equipment.

* Knowledge conducting experiments in a research lab and lab operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
