Position HighlightsThe Laboratory of Manish Jain in the Department of Translational Neurosciences is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to research projects focused on neuroscience, G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), pharmacology and drug discovery. We are looking for a passionate and dynamic researcher with strong expertise in pharmacology, cell signaling and structure biology to advance our research in the above areas.
Ideal candidates should have a PhD in Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Structural Biology, or a related field, along with a strong interest in neuroscience research. For Structural biology, experience in protein purification and Cryo-EM is expected. This position provides the opportunity to produce high-impact publications and an excellent foundation for independent career in both neuroscience and drug discovery. Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct advanced, multi-disciplinary research in neuroscience, biochemistry, and structural biology under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Develop, design, perform, and analyze experiments.
- Formulate research methods, develop research criteria.
- Perform scientific data collections, reductions, and analyses involving routine procedures characterized by use of independent judgment.
- Maintain and create various cell lines, cell-based functional assays in a high-throughput manner, mouse experiments and routine lab works including cloning, transfection, electrophoresis.
- Structure analysis for structural biology protein purification.
- Participate in data interpretation such as data quality control, variant interpretation and classification.
- Detailed documentation of data.
- Assist with funding applications by generating preliminary data.
- Derive, analyze, and format data for publications, presentations, and grant proposals.
- Present research findings to the lab at department meetings, and at national and international symposiums.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Foster collaborations within the Department and with other units across the University applications, and preparing progress reports.
- Excellent analytical skills and commitment to scientific excellence and innovation.
- Effective communication, organization and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing statistics analysis and interpretation.
- Ability to conduct research independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.
