Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portions to prevent shrinkage.
• Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food safety logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients as per recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
• Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep logs.
• Report discrepancies and unsafe conditions to management.
• Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries.
• Ensure safety procedures and regulations are followed, including food safety and equipment maintenance.
• Assist in managing inventory and stock levels.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers, ensuring excellent service.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and handle conflicts professionally.
• Support diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handlers permit upon employment

Experience

• Previous customer service or retail experience is helpful, especially in bakery or deli roles.
