• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using various utensils and equipment.
• Prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients; ensure proper stocking of merchandise.
• Check product quality, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Operate kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, and other devices as needed.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; report discrepancies to management.
• Understand store layout and assist customers in locating products.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
• Maintain inventory awareness and note discrepancies; ensure proper temperatures and logs for cases and coolers.
• Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines; follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and notify management of equipment issues; report accidents promptly.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict respectfully.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues; provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Minimum:
  Customer service skills; effective communication; knowledge of basic math; ability to obtain a current food handler permit once employed.
• Desired:
  Bakery or Deli experience; retail experience; strong customer service skills.
