- Collect information on potential markets, clients, and projects in alignment with Jacobsen's business plan
- Prospect new business opportunities and develop legacy accounts in alignment with Jacobsen’s annual and five-year business plans, market segment goals and input from project Executives
- Drive revenue by identifying and understanding client business needs, and effectively offering highly-valued solutions that win new business opportunities
- Work closely with Project Executives to develop and execute strategy for key project pursuits
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to achieve new business targets that meet or exceed key performance goals
- Maintain strong business and industry network, and long-term client relationships through regular interactions via face-to-face meetings and events, telephone contacts and electronic communication
- Report to management regarding planned and executed business development activities. Keep management apprised of current and anticipated market conditions.
- Provide input into clients’ “Why” and key hot buttons for the preparation of proposals and proposal interview teams
- Work with Project Executives to help facilitate meetings/events to enhance customer relationships and project successes (e.g., athletic events, groundbreaking events, etc.)
- Analyze market opportunities and provide sound business counsel to Executive Management team for consideration
- Make regular contact with key architects, engineers, subcontractors and other industry partners to grow these strategic relationships and gather actionable information for potential opportunities
- Stay in contact with key clients before, during, and after the construction process to receive feedback from the client and grow relationships for potential future opportunities
- Utilize the CRM system effectively to provide timely and relevant information, to keep Executive Management and Project Executives apprised of Business Development activities, and to keep Business Development representatives accountable for contacting and performance goals
- Building strong personal and organizational networks through involvement with professional and civic organizations
- Gathering and providing information to help drive the company’s future direction and success
- Utilizing strong consultative sales skills to identify new business opportunities, understand client needs and effectively communicate the value proposition to generate new business for the Company.
- Representing the Company effectively and in a positive manner at all levels of client organizations (including and especially with top executives) in a manner consistent with Jacobsen’s corporate image and standards.
- Following through on all commitments, consistently and timely
- Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence decisions and outcomes.
- Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients and project executives.
- Effectively relating the Jacobsen story through communications to enhance business development.
- Undergraduate degree in business development, marketing, strategy,
- construction management or related fields
- Five to eight years of business development experience, with minimum of
- three years in a substantially similar position
- Strong sales background in architecture, engineering and/or construction
