When you join Vulcan, it’s more than starting an exciting career – you get to make a difference for millions of people every day across the country.

In this role, you will assume full commercial ownership of our highest-volume, regional customer accounts spanning multiple sales districts and production facilities within the division. Moving beyond traditional territory sales, you will serve as the primary divisional partner to major regional contractors, heavy‑civil mega projects, and local commercial developers. By aligning our division’s local plant production capacities with complex customer project timelines and multi‑year demand forecasts, you will play a critical role in deepening account penetration, optimizing local margins, and driving regional revenue growth.

What You’ll Do:
  • Division Large Account Management:
Own the growth, retention, and strategic planning for an elite tier of assigned large aggregate, asphalt, and ready‑mix accounts across the division's localized sales districts.
  • Account Penetration & Product Cross‑Selling:
Orchestrate and facilitate structured account reviews with regional contractors to maximize account penetration, secure multi‑product line cross‑selling opportunities (aggregates, asphalt, and ready‑mix), and lock in high‑volume supply commitments.
  • Division Megaproject Spearheading:
Lead cross‑functional division pursuit teams (including local Sales Districts, Logistics, Quality Control, and Plant Operations) to capture, contract, and successfully service heavy civil infrastructure projects (e.g., ADOT, municipal infrastructure, large‑scale commercial).
  • Regional Relationship Cultivation:
Serve as the primary point of contact for the division, building alignment with contractor project executives, regional estimators, and procurement heads across our local market network.
  • Pricing Strategy & Margin Protection:
Partner closely with divisional commercial leadership to manage contract life cycles, guide regional RFP/RFQ processes, mitigate localized commercial risk, and optimize margins on major supply agreements.
  • Local Plant Coordination:
Function as the critical liaison between major regional customers and Vulcan’s local operational plants to ensure supply chain alignment, product availability, and seamless logistical execution from the quarries to the job site.
What You’ll Bring :
  • Experience:

5 to 8+ years of advanced B2B sales, account management, or commercial business development experience specifically within aggregates, concrete, asphalt, or adjacent heavy industrial sectors at the regional or divisional level.
  • Divisional Capability:
Proven track record of managing multi‑site, multi‑million dollar regional customer accounts and navigating long‑cycle, complex industrial project sales.
  • Analytical & Market Rigor:
Strong capability to utilize regional market intelligence, local competitive data, and volume forecasting to solve complex supply chain, pricing, and logistical challenges.
  • Presence & Negotiation

    Skills:

Exceptional communication and presentation skills with an innate ability to influence matrixed teams, negotiate high‑stakes regional supply contracts, and maintain strong field‑to‑office presence.
  • Culture Alignment:
Deep familiarity with—and commitment to—the Vulcan Way, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to environmental health, safety standards, integrity, and team‑first collaboration.
  • Location & Mobility:
Based out of our Phoenix, AZ office framework (100% onsite alignment) with the active willingness to travel across the assigned divisional footprint to interface directly with regional accounts and visit field projects.
