SummaryThe regional sales manager (RSM) is responsible for planning and execution of sales activities that result in significant sales growth, driving RATIONAL to market leadership in the assigned region. This position works independently and as a team player. The RSM builds contacts, cultivates relationships, and develops sales with support and collaboration from the sales director and vice president of sales to grow market share and sales in the region.
Key Responsibilities- Promote and spread the message of RATIONAL equipment technology through RATIONAL Cooking Live culinary events arranged and performed by the RSM.
- Increase the customer base within applicable commercial market segments by pursuing identified opportunities and creating new ones.
- Develop the consultant/designer network for specification to broaden the customer base.
- Conduct cold calling, prospecting, and other phone outreach.
- Document customer-related information and activity within the company CRM system.
- Pre‑plan daily/weekly/monthly schedules, execute the plan, and follow up to achieve annual goals.
- Prepare monthly sales reports/forecasts and provide customer analysis.
- Develop, implement, and review annual business strategies and marketing plans with the sales director to secure and sustain growth targets.
- Participate in regional and national trade shows and sales meetings.
- Monitor and report issues affecting sales, including competitive pressures and market activity.
- Food service operations or chef experience desired; sales and/or marketing experience within the food industry preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience with a proven track record of increased sales/revenue.
- Associate’s degree, culinary degree, or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills at all levels, including good listening skills.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
- Strong organization, time‑management skills, and the ability to complete multiple high‑priority tasks throughout the day.
- Experience setting budgets, creating plans to meet budgets, and executing those plans.
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CRM software, especially Salesforce.
- Willingness to travel overnight and away from home up to 30% of the time.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus.

Work EnvironmentHome office space is required within the assigned territory. The Regional Sales Manager works a minimum of 4.5 days per week in the field, allowing adequate time for pre‑planning, phone calls, follow‑ups, and CRM input. A clean, reliable vehicle with sufficient trunk space for sales and marketing tools is required, as well as a valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance.
CompensationThe starting salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and may vary by geographical location. Compensation also includes a bonus. Benefits include health, life, and disability insurance partially paid by the employer, paid time off, a 401(k) match, and future profit‑share type earnings.
