As our Commercial Director
, you will report directly to the VP of Sales and be responsible for developing and executing statewide and regional sales and field marketing strategies to meet revenue objectives. You will manage and coach a team of sales and field marketing professionals, maintain a best-in-class standard of customer service, and collaborate closely with our central marketing team. This position is full-time, with a combination of on-site, remote, and field work requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead & Inspire: Build, mentor, and manage a high-energy, results-driven sales and field marketing team who will represent Fernway with professionalism.
- Drive Revenue Growth: Develop and implement statewide sales strategies to expand distribution and exceed revenue targets.
- Market Expansion: Identify new opportunities to grow our footprint throughout Arizona, with a heavy focus on the greater Phoenix, AZ metro area.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with dispensary owners and key stakeholders.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Work directly with the VP of Sales to develop and refine highly effective sales tactics, resource allocations, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives.
- Pipeline & Account Management: Own pre-operational pipeline management, ensuring a smooth transition from initial relationship-building to ongoing management by Account Executives.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Track and analyze sales statistics based on key quantitative metrics, preparing reports for the Management Team.
- Field Engagement: Be in the market regularly to support your team, engage clients, and stay ahead of industry trends.
- Cross-Department
Collaboration:
Partners with Marketing, Operations and Finance to align on commercial priorities - Compliance & Industry Knowledge: Ensure adherence to state regulations and industry customs while staying ahead of market shifts and consumer trends.
- CRM & Sales Tracking: Maintain accurate client data, sales orders, and account updates in Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- Sales Leadership
Experience:
5+ years of experience in sales, with at least 2+ years in a director-level role leading an outside sales team. - Proven Success: Demonstrated ability to scale sales operations, grow revenue, and expand market share.
- AZ Market Expertise: Strong understanding of the AZ market, and a proven track record of success selling-in to key retailers
- Strategic & Hands-On: Able to set vision and strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to execute
- Exceptional Sales
Skills:
Persuasion, overcoming objections, active listening, and negotiation expertise - Tech-Savvy: Experience using CRM systems such as Hub Spot, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Relationship Builder: Skilled in developing and maintaining long-term business partnerships
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Passion for building something dynamic in an evolving industry
- High Integrity: Demonstrates strong ethical conduct and professionalism in all interactions
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel regularly within AZ (statewide)
