About The JobWe are seeking entry‑ and mid‑level professionals to conduct biological field surveys and construction monitoring in AZ. Positions will be based at project sites located throughout Arizona. Candidates will have some experience with biological survey techniques, a background in biology, a willingness to perform strenuous physical activity in harsh desert climates with uneven and sometimes difficult terrain, problem‑solving capabilities, and a desire to learn and work as part of a team.
Preference will be given to candidates that have experience with target species in Arizona, including Sonoran desert tortoise, burrowing owl, and Arizona native and rare plants. These candidates have participated in or led/helped lead surveys. Any candidate must possess the ability and willingness to continually hike in desert climates for days or weeks at a time, use GIS and data collection applications, navigate terrain, and drive off‑road.
Having a 4WD and/or high‑clearance vehicle is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities- May be involved with all or a selection of the following, individually or as part of a team:
- Compiling available research data and evaluating applicability to specific project sites.
- Vegetation mapping and habitat characterization.
- General habitat assessments and surveys for plant and wildlife species.
- Construction monitoring.
- Work as a member of the team in the preparation of technical reports and studies, including biological constraints analyses, wetland delineation reports, wetland permit applications, focused survey reports, threatened and endangered species permitting documentation, and biological resources technical reports. This includes working individually and as part of a team on the following:
- Assembly and synthesis of data related to biological issues and impact assessment.
- Coordination with internal staff and sub‑consultants preparing technical reports.
- Coordination with technical staff in document preparation, map and exhibit preparation, editing and production and distribution tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, botany, or related natural resources field, or equivalent experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
- Experience in performing biological surveys, or a willingness to learn.
- Background and/or coursework in biological field methods or biological science.
- Ability to hike in harsh desert conditions for many days at a time.
As a federal contractor, successful candidates must pass pre‑employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.
