Security Officer

Overview

Hospital Security with direct contact with patients, staff and visitors. Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence. A Security Officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security sensitive areas. They will assist visitors, patients and staff as needed and help prevent and deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, etc. May utilize security vehicle on a regular or occasional basis;

enforces Mayo policies and responds to complaints and service calls for wrongdoing, prepares incident reports/activity logs, and may work in the Security control centers.

• Assist visitors, patients and staff as needed and help prevent and deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, etc.
• Enforce Mayo Clinic policies and respond to complaints and service calls for wrongdoing.
• Prepare incident reports and activity logs.
• Operate and communicate on a two-way radio; may work in the Security control centers.

• A Security Officer adapts to unpredictable and stressful situations; manages altercations and emergency crises effectively and professionally.
• Operates and communicates on a two-way radio; uses good judgment, initiative, tact and diplomacy when dealing with people in stressful situations.
• Physically capable of frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pulling, climbing, reaching, pushing; able to move quickly up and down stairwells from ground floor to top floor without assistance.
• Assists patients, volunteers, visitors, and staff with emergency evacuations, including evacuations in stairwells, and handles emergency evacuation devices used to transport patients and others to safety.
• Makes effective decisions as an emergency first responder and works as a team member with other emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel.
• May be required to work nights and weekends for security and protection assignments and when required by emergency or special situations.
• May carry and deploy a taser.
