Salary: $33,000 (Grade 12)
Job SummaryThis position works under close supervision from a higher authority and performs technical assistance to the Correctional Officer II’s and Security Staff. It inspects inmates’ incoming/outgoing mail and parcels, checks for contraband, confiscates and controls any found contraband. Maintains property accounts and records location of property; releases property to authorized units and individuals and informs employees receiving property of responsibility and liability.
The position also monitors and authorizes the entrance and departure of employees and visitors from the complex. It assures compliance with overall facility procedures in an electronic control center, including security equipment and override systems; responds to internal, incoming and outgoing communication and maintains accurate security records. In addition, the position performs related administrative tasks, completes special projects/assignments and reports as required by a supervisor, operates general office equipment, attends meetings, required training, and is required to drive/travel on State business and perform other duties appropriate to the assignment.
This is a “safety-sensitive position” which is defined as any job designated by an employer as a safety-sensitive position or any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others, per A.R.S. 23-493. This position is subject to the provisions of Department Order 522, Drug-Free Workplace.

Inability to successfully complete any of the above will result in the completion of your temporary assignment at the end of the 30 Week limit.
Pre-Employment RequirementsApplicant must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Applicants will be required to submit an employment application, and successfully complete a comprehensive knowledge exam, psychological exam, and background check.
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R).
