Position: Overnight Security Guard (FT)

Overview

The Phoenix @ Union Hill is seeking a Security Guard to protect community property from fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry while meeting or exceeding service standards.

Shift: Monday‑Friday, 8 pm – 7 am. The candidate must consistently work this schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety and security inspections of all community property including common areas, resident corridors, parking areas, and perimeter access.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds as scheduled; register at watch stations to record inspection times.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, or unsecured security doors.
  • Investigate and report unlawful acts or safety hazards that endanger persons or property.
  • File incident reports for all incidents and suspicious occurrences.
  • Respond to security calls and complaints, handling on‑scene emergency situations until relieved by a Supervisor.
  • Inspect and report dangerous conditions and any damaged or defective equipment or machinery.
  • Secure and unlock areas and buildings in accordance with policy and community expectations.
  • Notify appropriate agencies when emergency response and support is required.
  • Assist in emergency response procedures as per community policy.
  • Secure outside furniture or fixtures in the event of inclement weather.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One‑year related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Effective communication in the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Apply common sense to instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Interact with guests, residents, and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Respond promptly to resident needs.
  • Support the organization’s goals and values.
  • Handle multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
