  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a good driving record
  • Plumbing Technician Certification is preferred.
  • 3-5 years journeyman level experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Provide maintenance, installation, and repair services for district irrigation fixtures and equipment such as valves, control devices, pumps, mains, laterals, risers, and heads.
  • Installs irrigation system timers and trains campus personnel on proper usage on an ongoing basis.
  • Coordinates with construction project personnel on the design and installation of new irrigation systems.
  • Operates trenching and digging equipment adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Makes emergency services calls as needed. Assists District Plumbers and other departments with tasks and projects as needed.
  • Replaces irrigation lines and pipelines on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains and cleans systems and equipment.
  • Will wear all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while performing assigned duties and follow all applicable Safety and Environmental Protection Policies / Guidelines.
  • Maintains electronic records of repairs, maintenance and fabrications of various organizational equipment and components in the district’s work order management system.
  • Estimates and documents cost of materials and labor in relation to projects performed.
  • Maintains supply inventory and assigned shop machinery, equipment, tools, facilities and assigned vehicles in the district’s facilities management system.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities to continuously improve practices associated with assigned duties.
  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service to requesters of services through responsive and thorough communication via our work order management system, interpersonal interactions and in email communication.
  • Perform general maintenance with numerous other trades in the Buildings & Operations department when a task requires a diverse work group.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • General safety equipment and practices associated with the irrigation trade. Diagnosis and repair procedures.
  • Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing work orders.
  • Skill in following safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, including but not limited to interacting courteously and tactfully with the public.
