Heavy Equipment Technician
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Technician with expertise in working on Cat and John Deere machinery. Join our team and play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy civil construction equipment!
Position Summary: As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy civil construction equipment, utilizing a crane-operated service truck for on-site work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose issues and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy civil construction equipment, including but not limited to loaders, scrapers, backhoes, motor graders, excavators, and service trucks.
- Conduct thorough inspections and document the condition of equipment for necessary repairs or servicing.
- Replace or repair defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
- Lubricate moving parts and test repaired equipment to ensure it meets all specifications.
- Perform tasks according to the preventative maintenance checklist.
- Safely drive the service truck or pick-up to job sites.
- Ensure a safety-conscious approach and promptly respond to inquiries, ensuring all issues are resolved effectively.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing and maintaining heavy civil construction equipment, including welding experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in cutting, welding, and fabricating.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and operate equipment efficiently.
- Solid understanding of OSHA safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Previous experience reading technical manuals and understanding schematic diagrams is a plus.
- CDL license is preferred but not required.
- This position involves exposure to various environmental conditions, including high temperatures, cold weather, loud noises, and fumes.
- Working in active construction zones presents increased risks due to moving equipment and trip hazards.
- A valid state-specific driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (meeting insurability standards for a Commercial B license or higher) are required.
- Job Type:
Full-time - Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
- Schedule: 8-12 hour shifts available
