The Electronic Security Service Technician installs, services, troubleshoots, and maintains electronic security systems including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and related low‑voltage equipment. This role ensures systems operate reliably, meet customer requirements, and comply with industry standards
Responsibilities- Install, configure, and test
CCTV/IP camera systems
, NVRs/VMS platforms, and networked security devices - Install and service
access control systems
(card readers, door hardware, controllers, biometrics) - Diagnose and repair
intrusion alarm systems
, sensors, panels, and communication modules - Perform
preventive maintenance
, system inspections, and firmware/software updates - Run, terminate, and label
low‑voltage cabling
(Cat5/6, coax, fiber) - Read and interpret
blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics - Provide on‑site and remote
technical support
to customers and internal teams - Document service activities, parts used, and system configurations
- Ensure compliance with
safety standards
, company policies, and local regulations - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to resolve complex issues
- Experience with electronic security systems (video, access, intrusion)
- Strong understanding of
IP networking
, switches, PoE, and basic routing - Ability to use diagnostic tools (multimeter, cable tester, laptop‑based utilities)
- Knowledge of low‑voltage wiring standards and installation best practices
- Strong problem‑solving and customer‑service skills
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license; ability to lift equipment and work on ladders
Preferred Certifications (Optional but Valuable)
- CompTIA Network+
- BICSI Technician / Installer
- Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, Honeywell, Bosch, or Axis
manufacturer certifications - NICET Level I–II
(Fire or Security Systems)
