Job Summary
This position oversees 2-8 crew members or subcontractors, directs daily work activities, and ensures overall safety, materials, reporting, and productivity. The foreman is a skilled excavation operator who manages permits, machine operation, and provides leadership to crews. The role requires frequent interaction with customers and city inspectors, preparation of pre‑construction meetings, maintenance of safety and production records, and execution of as‑build documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Direct, coordinate, and supervise crew(s) ranging from 2-8 members, including subcontractors.
- Ensure overall safety compliance, manage materials, and maintain accurate production records.
- Oversee work direction for operations such as trench & plow, aerial, drilling/bore, asphalt, and conduit, and control machine operation as necessary.
- Coordinate with customers, city inspectors, and other stakeholders, conducting pre‑construction meetings.
- Maintain detailed safety and production records, complete as‑builds, and lead all crew members.
- Assist with obtaining permits, ensuring crew and site safety, and calling locates.
- Perform shoveling, digging, handling, and operating construction equipment.
- Transport and operate equipment as needed.
- Assist in securing the site, employee safety, and general maintenance.
- Install and repair general utilities.
- Assist supervisor with administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- Valid state driver’s license (not provisional) with an acceptable driving record.
- CDL license required.
- Pass a background check and company drug screening.
- Attend and pass all required company training.
- Work overtime, after hours, on weekends, or on call as needed to complete work.
- Work nights, holidays, and travel within or overnight in the state as required.
- Regular and timely attendance is essential.
- Minimum 2 years of work‑related experience in utility construction, telecommunications, or labor‑related work.
- Computer skills preferred.
- Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high‑quality results.
- Combination of education and/or experience demonstrating ability to perform the role’s duties and responsibilities.
- Reasoning Ability: Make common sense decisions from written, oral, or drawing instructions and handle problems involving employees, customers, and vendors.
- Mathematical Skills: Calculate measurements, distances, proportions, percentages, and areas; apply basic mathematics concepts.
- Language Skills: Read, understand, and interpret safety rules, machine manuals, and procedures; write reports and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, vendors, and the public.
- Stand, crouch, sit, bend, and use hands for tasks such as handling, touching, and reaching in high and low spaces.
- Lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work outdoors in weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, dust, wet and icy roads, and fog.
- Noise level is moderate.
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, airborne pathogens, toxic or corrosive chemicals, and moving machinery parts.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus near and/or far.

Hourly wage range: $28.00 – $38.00 depending on experience.
