Position: Service Technician 2

Position Summary

As a Service Technician 2, you are a multi-faceted maintenance professional with proven success providing quality service in a timely manner to residents and the community. Each day you will work in vacant and occupied apartments, performing tasks including painting, drywall repairs, and executing maintenance repairs requested by the company. This role is responsible for conducting efficient daily maintenance tasks while increasing the asset value and integrity of the community.

You are skilled, efficient, and able to handle complex maintenance repairs on appliances and building systems. A successful Service Technician 2 manages time effectively, is detail‑oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. This position also requires accountability and attentiveness to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates, and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare all vacant apartments for occupancy including painting, drywall repair, trash out, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs
  • Independently perform system repairs on electrical, plumbing, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, etc.
  • Perform detailed work with carpentry, drywall repairs, and interior/exterior painting
  • Distinguish when full-paint or touch-up paint is needed and identify correct paint sheen and color
  • Repair plank, vinyl, and carpet flooring
  • Perform service requests for residents daily and timely with minimum supervision or assistance
  • Identify and perform preventative maintenance as assigned
  • Clean pools as directed, monitor chemical balance, and maintain logs as required by city ordinances, when applicable
  • Perform daily grounds maintenance, including trash removal, pet waste disposal, maintaining pet waste stations, sweeping walkways, and snow removal, where applicable
  • Participate in property improvements and preventive maintenance scheduled tasks promptly
  • Utilize Weidner issued cell phone and specified apps as part of your daily role
  • Use a personal vehicle to move between properties as assigned during work hours
  • Take part in the on‑call rotation as scheduled
  • Assist any maintenance or service team as needed
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience
  • 3–5 years of painting and drywall repair experience
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds (36.3 kg), climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs at a time
  • Ability to use an appliance dolly, push/pull up to 200 pounds (90.7 kg)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to be on feet constantly for the entire work shift, if applicable
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, swimming pool maintenance, appliances, building systems, irrigation systems, and HVAC systems
  • HVAC, CPO, EPA certification desired or required, as directed by regional leadership
  • Industry designations, CAMT desired
  • Complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basis
  • Ability to give professional directions clearly in person, over the phone, email, and text
  • Experience in Microsoft products preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Yardi and Paycom experience preferred; willingness and ability to learn new software programs

  • Prompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code/uniform and maintain professional appearance at all times
  • Work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independently
  • Ability to work overtime as requested
  • Willing and able to be assigned to other Weidner properties as needed
  • Working knowledge of English; detail oriented, well organized
  • Agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing
  • Have access to personal vehicle and/or reliable transportation at all times
  • Driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance must be valid and unexpired at all times and match the country in which the associate will work
