Job Summary

The Crew Lead - Fiber acts as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects, ensuring job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining staff efficiency.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently run major project crews; provide training, performance communication, and safety meetings.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with budget.
  • Install work area outlets, closets, grounding, and IDC connections.
  • Perform cable and fiber testing (continuity, OTDR, OTDR troubleshooting).
  • Terminate fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, MPO/MTP) and perform splicing (mechanical, fusion, building entrance, maintenance, direct buried).
  • Calculate loss budgets per TIA/EIA standards for multimode and single‑mode fiber.
  • Complete IES paperwork (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, job blog, tool transfers).
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years experience in fiber and leading small groups (preferable).
  • Industry certifications (Corning/FOA) preferred.
  • Experience in data center installation, mechanical and fusion splicing, OSP/confined space entry (splicing) preferred.
  • Proficiency with trade tools: screwdriver, tape measure, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tool, crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX.
  • Experience with OTDR and PMLS.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be self‑motivated, professional, and capable of working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds and moving up to 75 pounds. Must distinguish colors, read small print, recognize audible signals, and travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.
