The Electrical Foreman supports the Superintendent by providing leadership and overseeing a range of responsibilities, including scheduling, planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting with cost control, and ensuring safety. This role also upholds the consistent and fair application of all O policies and procedures, as well as the proper training and productivity of crews performing electrical work on cooling tower systems. The Electrical Foreman works closely with the Superintendent to ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with O quality standards.
In this role, the Electrical Foreman leads teams of electricians and electrical technicians, ensuring that all tasks assigned by the Superintendent are executed correctly and in compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards. Depending on project location, extensive travel may be required. At times, the Electrical Foreman may also be responsible for independently managing an inspection or a small electrical project without direct supervision.
ROLES/TASKSOF THE POSITION
- Consistently work safely and follow all established safety procedures. Remain vigilant for unsafe conditions affecting yourself, co‑workers, or others on the job site, and stop work immediately if a hazard is present.
- Manage the job site in the Superintendent’s absence.
- Oversee field subcontractors and their work activities.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and building plans to determine material needs, equipment specifications, and the overall scope of electrical work.
- Select appropriate wire, conduit, panels, and other electrical materials and components required for the project.
- Develop conduit routing layouts and electrical installation plans using proper measurement and layout tools.
- Supervise the marking, bending, and cutting of conduit and cable tray to meet specified dimensions and routing requirements.
- Oversee and perform the installation of conduit, cable tray, wiring, switch gear, electrical distribution equipment, and related components in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications.
- Supervise and perform the termination, splicing, and connection of electrical components, including panels, motors, drives, and control systems.
- Conduct and oversee testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems, including motors, VFDs, controls, and associated wiring.
- Work at heights as required while maintaining 100% tie‑off.
- Lead daily and weekly safety meetings.
- Complete incident reports as needed.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
- 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical work; experience in industrial plant environments preferred.
- 1 year (minimum) as a foreman or lead electrician in an industrial or commercial electrical environment (or promoted through O Cooling Towers, Inc. training process).
- Certification in CPR and First Aid
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of Windows-based applications
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred
Work is performed in outdoor and industrial environments, including exposure to weather, noise, and potentially hazardous materials. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, and lifting, as well as use of hands for handling and reaching, including overhead work.
