Job Summary

The Electrical Lead provides daily field leadership and coordination for assigned crews on electrical construction projects. This position serves as the working lead for installation activities, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and Kearney Electric's quality standards. The Lead bridges the gap between field electricians and site supervision, translating plans into action.

Supporting coordination with materials and manpower, and assisting the Foreman in driving productivity and safety across the project while maintaining adherence to Kearney Electric's Pathways to Excellence mission and core values of Trust, Team, Grit, and Growth.

Essential Functions
  • Provide daily direction, guidance, and coordination to assigned crews and apprentices to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
  • Perform and oversee installation of conduit, wire pulls, panel terminations, grounding, lighting, and equipment wiring.
  • Work closely with the Foreman to plan daily and weekly manpower schedules, material needs, and task priorities.
  • Maintain clear communication between field crews, Foreman, and other trades on‑site to prevent conflicts and delays.
  • Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with NEC and project requirements.
  • Assist the Foreman with as‑built documentation, progress reporting, and material tracking.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training and mentorship to apprentices and journeymen to build technical and safety competency.
  • Actively promote and enforce Kearney Electric's safety program, ensuring proper PPE use, daily job hazard analysis, and adherence to safe work practices.
  • Conduct or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre‑task planning.
  • Support Foreman in addressing performance issues, discipline, or coaching in alignment with company standards.
  • Represent Kearney Electric in a professional manner during interactions with clients, inspectors, and general contractors.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment for commercial and industrial projects according to NEC and local codes.
  • Plan and lay out work based on blueprints, schematics, and project documentation.
  • Order and manage materials, tools, and equipment necessary for assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Identify and report field issues or conflicts promptly to the Foreman or General Foreman.
  • Provide constructive feedback to leadership regarding crew performance and project progress.
  • Complete and maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, material logs, and field reports.
  • Exhibit consistent attendance, reliability, and professionalism on all job sites.
  • Set the pace for assigned crews and serve as a role model for work ethic, attitude, and quality.
Job Requirements
  • Must be able to work outdoors year‑round in various weather conditions typical to Arizona (heat, cold, dust, wind).
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures, and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and electrical components.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or walk for extended periods.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception.
  • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as dictated by site safety requirements (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, high‑visibility clothing, etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, and clients.
