Overview POSITION SUMMARYThe Certified HVAC Technician works under the guidance and direction of the Facility Manager or designee of the Echo Cliffs Health Center. The incumbent is to install, test, inspect, and repair any refrigeration air handling and air conditioning equipment which includes providing electrical maintenance, planning, safety, and oversight of critical emergency electrical systems and operations. Troubleshoot heating‑cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected.
Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders. Perform preventive general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing and vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, and changing filters and ensure indoor climate and air quality control systems operate safely and efficiently.
Scheduled work hours are (24 hour coverage) rotational, day or night shifts, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime. Will also be scheduled for on‑call plant coverage (begins Monday evening at 6pm and ends on Monday morning of the following week at 6am).
Qualifications NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS Education:- High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate of graduation from Air Condition Refrigeration Mechanic Technical School as a Journeyman Air Condition and/or Refrigeration Mechanic
- Must have and maintain a valid universal certification in EPA Refrigerant Recovery
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license without restrictions throughout employment
- Must have three (3) years of verifiable commercial HVAC associated electrical work experience with knowledge of the various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, fittings, boxes, circuit breakers, relays and other electrical supplies and devices
- Require basic familiarity with electronics and electrical HVAC components including refrigerants.
Skills and Abilities:
A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. All employment references must address and indicate success in each one of the following areas:
- Positive working relationships with others
- Possession of high ethical standards and no history of complaints
- Reliable and dependable; reports to work as scheduled without excessive absences
- Must have the ability to read, write, understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of maintaining multiple communication channels
- Must have strong understanding of thermodynamics, the refrigeration cycle, electrical schematics, and air distribution systems.
- Basic computer skills and literacy for communication purposes, records management, forms processing, and ordering parts
- Must follow department safety guidelines and procedures as established and directed by management
- Completion of and, above-satisfactory scores on all job interviews, demonstrating to the satisfaction of the interviewees and TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Successful completion of and positive results from all background and reference checks, including positive employment references from authorized representatives of past and current employers demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC a record of satisfactory performance and that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Successful completion of fingerprint clearance requirements, physical examinations, and other screenings indicating that the applicant is qualified to be employed by TCRHCC and demonstrating to the satisfaction of TCRHCC that the applicant can perform the essential functions of the job
- Submission of all required employment-related documents, applications, resumes, references, and other required information free of false, misleading, or incomplete information, as determined by TCRHCC.
