Job Summary

The Electrical Apprentice II continues to develop technical and safety skills while performing electrical installations under supervision. Building on the foundation established in Apprentice I, this role supports more complex tasks such as conduit layout, circuit terminations, and code‑compliant installations while maintaining Kearney Electric's standards of quality, safety, and teamwork. This early entry‑level position focuses on developing advanced trade skills, modeling professionalism, craftsmanship, and coordinating daily work while maintaining adherence to Kearney Electric's Pathways to Excellence mission and core values of Trust, Team, Grit, and Growth.

Essential

Functions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theory in the installation of conduit, wiring, lighting, devices, and electrical equipment under supervision.
  • Pull wire, install supports, and perform material staging and cleanup as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Develop proficiency in the proper use and care of hand and power tools used in electrical work.
  • Assist with layout and measurements under direct supervision.
  • Support the setup and takedown of work areas, ensuring all tools and materials are properly secured.
  • Observe and practice safe work habits consistent with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Learn to identify electrical materials, wire types, fittings, and installation components.
  • Progress toward proficiency in panel terminations, switch gear setup, and fixture installation.
  • Perform underground and rough‑in installations under supervision.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and testing under the guidance of a Journeyman or Foreman.
  • Follow direction promptly and complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn every aspect of the trade.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings, training sessions, and company development opportunities.
  • Complete classroom and on‑the‑job training requirements in alignment with Kearney Electric's apprenticeship standards.
  • Actively participate in personal and professional development to advance toward Journeyman Electrician status.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors year‑round in various weather conditions typical to Arizona (heat, cold, dust, wind).
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and structures, and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier with assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and electrical components.
  • Must stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or walk for extended periods.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations without exception.
  • Required to wear PPE as dictated by site safety requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all crew members.
  • Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Expected to model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity at all times.
  • Must adhere to company policies, including attendance, conduct, and ethics standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year's experience as electrical apprentice.
  • Willingness to stay engaged in the ABA apprenticeship program.
  • Must be able to distinguish wire colors and follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of construction environments.
Licenses / Special Training
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • OSHA 10 required.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
