Dragline Operator - Phoenix, AZ

Job Description

Operates a dragline to mine aggregate limestone.

• Operates a dragline in all modes of digging, spoiling, and propelling utilizing hand levers and foot pedals to rotate the machine and position the boom above the excavation point; raises and lowers the bucket to material; drags the bucket forward to load material, rotates the machine, and lets the bucket back out to dump.
• Assists supervisor with maintaining a consistent dig sequence and windrow placement.
• Anticipates walking pad requirements and requests grading assistance to eliminate downtime on the machine.
• Inspects rope and predicts tooth changes.
• Assists other crew members to maintain a positive, engaged and safe work environment.
• Performs job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.

• Assists with all repair and component replacements.
• May be required to drive a company vehicle; must maintain a valid driving record (MVR) and good standing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Prior demonstrated ability operating heavy equipment in a construction or mining environment.
• Ability to be trained in safe dragline operation, digging, spoiling, and moving the machine to maximize efficiency and reduce operating cost.
• Ability to work with other crew members and work as a team player – a must.

• Prior on‑job experience as a heavy equipment operator is required.
• Ability to be trained in the safe operations of a dragline is a must.

• Prior dragline operating experience is a plus.
• Clean MVR.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.

• Intermittent: lifting, carrying, pushing up to 75 lbs. (tools & supplies); pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs. (making mechanical repairs); stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling (making mechanical repairs).
• Occasionally (0
  -1/3 of workday): standing and walking (maintenance & cleaning), climbing and balancing (dragline boom & mounting equipment); reaching (equipment operation); fingering (controls & computer); color vision (identification of seams).
• Frequently (1/3 - 2/3 of workday): speaking (radio communication).
• Continually (2/3-3/3 of workday): sitting (equipment operation); handing and repetitive motions (controls); foot & leg movement (foot pedals); hearing (equipment problem detection, radio & hazard recognition); seeing and depth perception (equipment operation & hazard recognition).

Note:

90% inside and 10% outside in all weather extremes. Works at heights when inspecting the dragline boom.
