ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Pipefitter Journeyman plays a critical role in the construction industry by installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems that transport various fluids and gases. This position requires a deep understanding of blueprints, specifications, and safety regulations to ensure all piping systems are constructed to code and function efficiently. The journeyman works closely with other tradespeople and project managers to complete projects on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

This role demands precision and expertise in welding, cutting, and fitting pipes of different materials and sizes. Ultimately, the Pipefitter Journeyman ensures the integrity and reliability of piping infrastructure essential to residential, commercial, and industrial facilities across the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of an accredited pipe fitting apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • Valid journeyman pipefitter certification or license as required by state or local regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations related to pipe fitting and construction.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with welding certifications such as SMAW, GTAW, or FCAW.
  • Familiarity with computerized pipe layout software and digital measuring tools.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, or process piping systems.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures for piping systems.
  • Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools according to project requirements.
  • Install supports, hangers, and anchors to secure piping systems in place.
  • Perform welding and soldering tasks to join pipes and fittings, ensuring leak-proof connections.
