Job DescriptionThe Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and reactive maintenance, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and overall maintenance of customers’ solar assets. The role requires managing time and resources to service customers promptly and effectively. Key responsibilities include electrical troubleshooting, module cleaning, adherence to safety procedures, process improvement, electronic monitoring setup, and leading safe working practices.
- Perform field service projects while maintaining safety standards at all times.
- Provide complete and thorough documentation and reports upon completion of each assigned job.
- Interact with customers and coworkers professionally; work both independently and as part of a multi-tasking team.
- Calibrate and coordinate equipment according to precise specifications.
- Carry out on‑site root cause analysis on system failures.
- Act as technical liaison between Sun System Technology Residential Field Services and clients.
- Travel and overnight stays required based on project locations within the region; accommodate weekend, night, or holiday work and 24‑hour emergency responses.
- 2+ years of experience in solar field operations (installations/service).
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.
- Flexibility to shift priorities and adapt to changing environments.
- Motivated, responsible, accountable, and punctual.
- Knowledge and ability to use basic hand and electrical tools.
- AC/DC Power Conversion and Control experience.
- Knowledge of Electrical Theory and Codes.
- Ability to work at heights and rooftops.
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to travel up to 70%, with some nights and weekends required.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Ability to configure and repair communication hardware and software.
- Good communication skills and proficiency with standard PCs.
- Computer skills for generating timely reports.
- Ability to innovate and improve operations and solve complex problems.

- NABCEP Certification.
- Experience maintaining and servicing solar monitoring systems (e.g., Sun Power Monitoring, Locus, Itron, Elster, Enphase).
- Experience maintaining and servicing solar inverters/micro‑inverters (e.g., SMA, Power One, Fronius, Aurora, LG, Enphase).
