Responsibilities
Electrical Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems for all power up to and including 230kV including Site Substations, Service Entry Sections, Electrical switch gear, Panel boards, Transformers, cabling systems, metering circuits, diesel generators, UPS, STS/PDU/RPP as well as motor connections, Motors and electrical controls.

- Must have working knowledge of Minimum Approach Distances for Live Line Work
- Read and interpret technical repair manuals, operating guides, schematics, wiring diagrams, shop drawings, and codebooks
- Performs basic mathematical calculations, including minor algebra, to calculate electrical loads, power factors, horsepower, etc.
- Prepares and maintains records, reports, parts lists, and work orders
- Operates diagnostic test equipment and interprets results
- Utilizes a variety of tools associated with electrical distribution systems
- Create and perform detailed procedures from simple equipment maintenance to entire system shutdowns including all operations and actions taken. Includes setup and operation of temporary power systems
- Perform routine and emergency service on state‑of‑the‑art critical systems
- Ensure strict adherence to procedures, policies, and regulations for both self and those working at the direction of this role
- Aid in scheduling and managing vendors and subcontractors during equipment/systems maintenance and service. Perform equipment/system preventive maintenance
- Conducts a routine and on‑going assessment of the building systems operations. Performs tests, rounds, and analyzes data to assure the proper functioning of departmental equipment
- Monitors operation of the mechanical / electrical operating equipment
- Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required
- Wire single and three phase motors;
Megger single and 3‑phase motors, run conduit; pull wiring to machinery, motors, operating parts, etc. assist other trades and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment - Additional duties based on business needs, including ERT
- If hired for this position, you may be required to participate in and perform Emergency Response Team (ERT) duties as an essential part of the role. These duties may include responding to F21 incidents, such as medical emergencies, chemical spills, fire response, or addressing any other disruptions to business operations. If you are selected by your manager to become a part of ERT, participation is mandatory and additional compensation will be provided for performing these critical responsibilities in the form of a monthly premium
Knowledge of industry standards, codes and regulations, and the ability to apply to maintenance operation of site Electrical systems
- Functional level knowledge of Electrical theory to troubleshoot and repair electrical controls and electrical power distribution systems, complex procedures pertinent to equipment and power distribution and wiring repair
- The voltage and potential fault energy levels of medium and high voltage wiring systems pose significant safety hazards. In addition to electric shock and arc‑flash burn hazards, blunt force and projectile injuries are also possible due to arc‑blast hazard. Personnel must always be trained to recognize the hazards associated with the specific class of system voltage they will be working with and understand how to mitigate those hazards through safe work practices
Effectively detect and repair defects in the operation of plant electrical equipment and power distribution system equipment in a manner consistent with safety principles, NFPA 70E, and the National Electric Code; utilize and maintain tools and test equipment used in the electrical trades; follow oral and written instructions; deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public; read and understand technical manuals, electrical code, manufacture guidelines, shop drawings, etc.;
