As an Electrical Journeyman, you will play a key role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems within properties affected by damage. Working with blueprints and technical diagrams, you will troubleshoot electrical issues, provide solutions, and ensure the safety and functionality of the electrical systems. You will be responsible for managing electrical components, coordinating repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in residential and commercial properties.
- Inspect circuit breakers, wiring, and other electrical components.
- Perform routine electrical maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and system specifications.
- Label system components and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct electrical load calculations for wiring requirements.
- Drive to job sites and assess the condition of electrical systems.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to repair and maintain electrical systems.
- Install new electrical systems and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
- Provide clear explanations and answer customer inquiries regarding their electrical systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including OSHA guidelines, to ensure safe work environments.
- In-depth knowledge of low and medium voltage systems, equipment, and power distribution.
- Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA-70E, OSHA 10-30, and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools for installation, repair, and testing of electrical circuits.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical controls, motors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Ability to lead and train staff when needed.
- Capable of reading and interpreting both commercial and industrial electrical blueprints.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to enforce them.
- Experience installing and maintaining motors, lighting systems, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
- Ability to isolate and repair defects in electrical wiring, switches, motors, and equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical technician.
- Highly observant, analytical, and detail-oriented.
- Proficiency with hand tools and an understanding of basic mathematical skills.
- Physically able to lift 35 lbs. and work in various physical environments.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and necessary equipment.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and company policies.
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
- Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry items over 50 lbs.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasional loud noise.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals.
- Frequent use of hand and finger dexterity, as well as visual acuity to operate tools and read technical information.
