Position: Construction Solar Laborer (NO PER DIEM OFFERED)

Solar Installation Laborer

This role supports the construction and installation of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on rooftop and carport projects throughout Arizona. You will work on flat and pitched roofs as well as carport structures, assisting with racking assembly, solar module installation, and general construction tasks to ensure safe and efficient project completion. Currently work 2:00am-10:00am (40 hours a week) to avoid the summer heat.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the construction and installation of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and carport structures.
  • Assemble and install racking systems according to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Place, secure, and align solar modules on rooftop and carport structures.
  • Pull wire and support basic electrical layout tasks under the direction of the foreman or lead installer.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including fall protection and safe use of ladders, scaffolding, and equipment when working at heights.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment throughout the workday.
  • Handle materials, including loading, unloading, staging, and organizing components at the jobsite.
  • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite by performing regular site cleanup and debris removal.
  • Support the installation team with general construction duties as needed to keep projects on schedule.
  • Travel to various jobsites throughout the valley and arrive on time, prepared for changing site conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with foremen and team members to ensure safe, efficient project execution.
Essential Skills
  • Previous construction labor experience, including familiarity with outdoor jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively at heights on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and carport structures.
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools in a construction environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, hardware, and structural components.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to remain on your feet and active for 8+ hours per day.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to different jobsites throughout the valley, including driving up to approximately one hour.
  • Reliability, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance.
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions, including Arizona heat.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and directions from foremen and supervisors.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a general laborer in construction or related trades.
  • Comfort working early-morning shifts and adapting to schedule changes based on weather and project needs.
  • Centrally located within the valley to facilitate travel to multiple jobsites.
  • Experience working with solar installations or rooftop construction is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented construction environment.

Environment

This position is based in an outdoor construction environment on active jobsites across Arizona, including rooftop and carport structures. You will work primarily on flat and pitched roofs and elevated carport platforms, frequently using ladders and other access equipment. The current schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., structured early in the day during summer months to reduce exposure to extreme heat;
