Company Overview

Our client is a premier global flight training academy dedicated to setting the highest safety and maintenance standards in general aviation. Operating high-utilization, modern flight training fleets, their regional maintenance centers keep aircraft flying safely, efficiently, and reliably.

We are seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to join the maintenance team at Deer Valley Airport (DVT) in Phoenix, AZ. Reporting to maintenance leadership, this role is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and certification of avionics and electrical systems across the aircraft fleet. Key Responsibilities

  • Avionics Inspection & Troubleshooting:
    Inspect, repair, test, and troubleshoot complex aircraft avionics, electrical systems, and flight simulator hardware.
  • System Testing & Recertification:
    Perform 24-month pitot-static and transponder certifications as required by Title 14 CFR Parts 91.411 and 91.413.
  • Wiring & Harness Fabrication:
    Build, modify, and repair aircraft wiring harnesses using AC43.13 standard aircraft wiring practices, including precision soldering and crimping.
  • Modifications & Installations:
    Perform avionics suite modifications, upgrades, and component installations.
  • Technical Compliance & Documentation:
    Read and interpret technical data including wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, Service Bulletins (SBs), and Airworthiness Directives (ADs). Complete all required maintenance records and repair station paperwork accurately.

Requirements & Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Avionics

    Experience:

    Minimum of 4 years of recent (last 10 years) hands-on avionics experience.
  • Garmin G1000 Proficiency:
    At least 1 year of dedicated experience working with Garmin G1000 glass cockpit systems.
  • Certification Testing:
    Demonstrated hands-on experience performing Part 91.411 and 91.413 tests and recertifications.
  • Wiring Knowledge:
    In-depth working knowledge of AC43.13 standard aircraft wiring practices and proficiency with ground test equipment, soldering, and crimping tools.
  • Tools:
    Must possess a basic set of hand tools suitable for avionics and electrical servicing.
  • Physical Capabilities:
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions, and perform prolonged sitting, standing, bending, and stooping.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Active FCC Commercial Radio Operator License.
  • Prior experience in a certificated Part 145 repair station.
  • Direct experience on Piper or Cessna general aviation platforms.
