Earthwork Foreman

Cool Sys, a leader in sustainable, energy-efficient HVACR solutions across North America, is seeking a Foreman for Installation Refrigeration in our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management department. In this role, you will lead crews in installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting commercial and industrial refrigeration systems, ensuring quality, safety, and energy-efficient performance. You'll coordinate projects, mentor technicians, and collaborate with engineering and asset management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise installation crews on commercial and industrial refrigeration projects
• Interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications for refrigeration and HVACR installations
• Lay out and oversee piping, brazing, and line set installation for rack systems, cases, and condensers
• Coordinate and perform system evacuation, charging, start-up, and commissioning
• Verify system operation, performance, and energy efficiency; support system optimization
• Serve as on-site point of contact for project managers, engineers, inspectors, and customers
• Plan daily work, assign tasks, and monitor productivity and workmanship quality
• Enforce jobsite safety procedures and conduct regular safety meetings and inspections
• Ensure proper use and care of tools, lifts, and installation equipment
• Coordinate material orders and deliveries with vendors and HVAC wholesale partners
• Troubleshoot installation-related mechanical, electrical, and controls issues
• Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, change orders, and as-built notes
• Train and mentor junior technicians and installers, supporting their technical growth

• Commercial refrigeration installation

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
• Refrigerant charging, evacuation, and recovery
• Electrical wiring for HVACR systems
• Controls setup and basic programming (refrigeration and BMS controls)
• Commissioning and start-up of refrigeration systems
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
• Use of refrigeration gauges, vacuum pumps, leak detectors, and electronic tools
• Jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards
• Crew leadership and supervision
• Project and time management in the field
• Documentation and reporting (daily logs, change orders, as-builts)
