About This Position
The Human Services Department provides a comprehensive array of services to help people meet emergency, short‑and long‑term needs; and help every individual reach their highest level of self‑sufficiency. These positions have considerable contact with diverse low‑income groups, other agencies, anti‑poverty workers, and the general public.
The Human Services Department is seeking to hire Senior Center Assistants to assist in managing the daily operations of City of Phoenix senior centers.
The primary role of the Senior Center Assistant is to develop and implement a variety of social and recreational programs and activities for seniors and/or disabled adults.
Additional Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To- Assisting with meals and supplemental food programs.
- Training and supervising center volunteers; handling cash and daily deposits.
- Preparing reports.
- Providing positive customer service with internal and external customers.
- Ensuring that all city, county, state, and federal regulations are adhered to.
Responsibilities require considerable contact with members of senior, disabled, minority, and poverty groups.
IDEAL CANDIDATE- Ability to travel to various locations.
- Ability to facilitate group techniques for classes and programs.
- Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates programs for the elderly that meet federally mandated requirements.

- Pay Range: $20.51 - $30.31 per hour.
- Hiring Range: $20.51 - $27.49 per hour.
- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.

- Two years of experience working with the public in the direct provision of social services.
- Supplemented by some college coursework in social work, sociology, or a related field.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- Moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds may be required.

- This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
