Hiring Salary Range: $20.50 - $21.50 per hour

About UMOM New Day Centers: Founded in 1964, UMOM is Arizona's largest provider of services for families experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to end family homelessness by restoring hope and rebuilding lives. With an annual operating budget of $20 million dollars, UMOM provides shelter, supportive services, and housing programs to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County. UMOM serves over 15,000 unique individuals across all our services annually, including those families receiving support at the Family Housing Hub, Maricopa County's family coordinated entry system.
Position
Description:
The Employment Center Receptionist plays a vital role in supporting our clients on their journey to sustainable employment and housing stability. This position serves as the welcoming face of our employment center, providing exceptional customer service to clients seeking assistance with job readiness and employment opportunities.
Employment Services:
- Serve as the welcoming face of our employment center, providing exceptional customer service to clients seeking assistance with job readiness and employment opportunities.
- Assist clients in accessing resources and referrals to our Job Readiness Series, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed.
- Work closely with case managers to establish time‑sensitive employment and income plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Conduct initial assessments of clients and refer them to their proper workforce specialists efficiently.
- Collaborate with clients to co‑create personalized employment plans, offering guidance and support throughout their journey.
- Facilitate documentation of employment readiness workshops to enhance clients' job‑seeking skills and confidence.
- Provide ongoing customer support to clients utilizing our Employment Center, assisting with technology, job searching, and troubleshooting.
- Offer retention services to employed clients, addressing any issues that may arise in maintaining employment.
- Document all client contacts in UMOM's internal database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) within 72 hours.
- Support program staff in completion of accurate employment documentation in ETO, addressing discrepancies ongoing.
Other duties as assigned by Leadership and/or Executives.
Qualifications and Competency Requirements:Experience and
Education:
- High School or GED Diploma, required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with at‑risk populations and/or case management, required
- Experience in and passion for workforce development, employment services, and vocational training, preferred
- Knowledge of non‑profit sector; experience working with underserved or disadvantaged populations, preferred
- Knowledge of the local publicly funded workforce development system, a plus
- Computer literacy required, including data entry, web navigation, typing and text editing, and the ability to learn operations in new software systems
- Proficiency with Windows operating system, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to clear the Central Registry Screening from the Department of Child Safety & Adult Protective Services
- Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre‑employment and random drug screening as required/requested
