We’re looking for a strong, dependable, and people-focused Lead Shelter Support Staff team member to help guide day-to-day shelter operations while supporting clients during some of the most important moments of their lives.

What You’ll Do

As a Lead Shelter Support Staff team member, you’ll serve as an operational leader and mentor during shift while continuing to provide direct support to clients. You’ll help ensure shelter operations run smoothly, clients receive excellent service, and staff have the guidance and support they need.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Support and assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming shelter environment
  • Serveas a mentor and resource for Shelter Support Staff
  • Assist with onboarding and training new team members
  • Help coordinate shelter operations, occupancy tracking, unit turnover, and inventory processes
  • Supportdocumentation accuracy and HMIS workflows
  • De-escalate conflict and respond calmly during crisis situations
  • Conduct shelter walkthroughs and identify operational or safety concerns
  • Communicate important updates across shifts and departments
  • Step in wherever needed to support shelter operations and client care

This role is ideal for someone who leads by example, communicates professionally, and can balance compassion with accountability.

Schedule & Environment

This is a full-time position in a 24/7 shelter environment. Team members typically work four 10-hour shifts per week
, including weekends and holidays.

The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and mission-driven. No two days are exactly the same; but everyday matters.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Intermediate computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry
  • Abilityto obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days
  • Abilityto obtain Narcan training within 90 days
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or poverty
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
