MSW Placement Range = $58,127.00 to $66,432.00 per school year DOE. Placement range with LCSW = $61,217.00 to $69,962.00.
LCSW preferred.
This position is grant funded for the 2026/2027 school year.
The School Social Worker will be responsible for substantially and effectively assisting the principal/director in the coordination of all school social work programs and services. Duties include coordinating all school site activities and programs pertaining to social work services, and cooperatively planning, implementing, administering, and monitoring those programs. The worker will provide training, in‑service resources, and support to school staff, parents, and students to ensure an appropriate educational experience.
This position also supports the ITI program.
Supervision:
Supervised by the Principal in collaboration with the Director of Special Education and Coordinator of School Social Work.
- Must hold a Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate school of social work.
- Three years of experience in school social work (preferred).
- Broad knowledge of child development, learning, and family systems.
- LCSW preferred.
- Spanish bilingual skills preferred but not required.
- Implement school social work programs such as counseling, case management, crisis intervention, community outreach, and student/family advocacy.
- Work effectively with other professionals in schools and community agencies.
- Know community resources and referral procedures; know district programs.
- Monitor completion of social history of referred students in the computerized special education software.
- Facilitate social and developmental histories for students needing academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional support.
- Coordinate services for critical/crisis situations at schools.
- Confer effectively with appropriate school personnel, parents, and community agencies.
- Integral member of the threat‑management and RTI team.
- LCSW will bill for Medicaid.
- Keep current in professional literature on school social work.
- Effectively utilize district technologies and attend required trainings.
- Maintain communications and all necessary records related to program operations.
- Attend monthly meetings with school social workers to ensure effective departmental operations.
- Coordinate school in‑service sessions for parents and community groups.
- Assess the need for new programs and services at school sites.
- Attend to additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
