Join our dynamic team at the Phoenix Job Corps Center as a Recreation Advisor. You will be responsible for working with the Recreation team to provide students with a comprehensive and diverse recreation program, promote health and wellness through recreation activities as outlined on the approved recreation schedule.
Responsibilities- Follow all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensure no manipulation of student data.
- Assist with the supervision of a comprehensive and diverse recreation program.
- Coordinate recreation activities with CPP and Social Development to include evening programming.
- Coordinate recreation and leadership activities/programs with Center and local community resources.
- Ensure safe practices and program compliance within prescribed safety guidelines.
- Document student participation and accountability during recreation activities.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and material, control their use, recommend purchase of specific equipment, and perform repairs as needed.
- Be responsible for the overall appearance, condition, and organization of the recreation department facilities.
- May oversee the student recreation aide program.
- Produce quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards.
- Plan, prioritize and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
- Understand and apply job knowledge to effectively complete all responsibilities.
- Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
- Provide high‑quality supervision and management for the student population and positively influence student behavior, while showing respect and courtesy to students and holding them accountable for their actions.
- Provide timely operational support for Center operations to ensure quality programs and services, and pursue improvement in Center operations to fulfill program objectives.
- Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contribute meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge; provide quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.
- Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes, evaluate appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions, and follow up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and problems are corrected.
- Work in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
- Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager, and perform assignments to temporarily perform job duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Associate of Arts degree or 1‑year related experience working with youth. - Must possess a valid in‑state Driver’s License and meet company requirements.
- Insurability Requirements: CDL preferred.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching; demonstrate ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess lift load to request assistance.
Sunday – Tuesday 3 pm – 12 am;
Wednesday–Thursday Off;
Friday – Saturday 3 pm – 12 am.
