Job Overview
The Intensive Case Management Caseworker (ICM) will address barriers to safety and wellness for especially vulnerable refugees, asylees, and other ORR‑eligible populations, including single‑headed households, survivors of domestic and gender‑based violence, older refugees, youth, refugees with mental health or physical disabilities, unanticipated arrivals, secondary migrants, and LGBTQ individuals. This role centers client‑first, strengths‑based case management within safety and wellness programs.
Major Responsibilities- Determine client eligibility for ICM programming and conduct intake assessments, reviewing program expectations, outcomes, and confidentiality.
- Develop individualized, SMART self‑sufficiency plans for each enrolled client.
- Evaluate client progress every six months, identify new needs, and update action plans.
- Assist clients in navigating healthcare and social service systems, including benefits applications and appointment scheduling.
- Conduct community outreach and maintain a network of service providers.
- Maintain strong relationships with local and state refugee coordinators and health coordinators.
- Provide clients with extended orientation on topics such as women’s health, transportation, and local healthcare systems.
- Respond to client crises with supervisor guidance as needed.
- Assist clients in requesting financial assistance and track it within case files.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation in client case files and the IRC database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO).
- Attend relevant trainings and meetings at local and national levels.
- Train and lead volunteer and intern activities (as appropriate).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to the Safety and Wellness Supervisor. Indirectly manages interns and volunteers. Internally partners with IRC RSS, Employment team, Youth program, and other IRC programs. Externally collaborates with grant partners, social service agencies, government entities, and community outreach partners.
Job Requirements EducationUndergraduate degree, preferably in Social Work or a related field; comparable work experience may substitute.
Work Experience2+ years of case management experience in a social services environment.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and detail‑oriented.
- Public speaking and/or presentation experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively within a cross‑cultural, multidisciplinary environment.
- Problem‑solving and independent/work‑team collaboration.
- Ability and willingness to drive a 15‑passenger van.
- Strong time‑management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to lift 35–50 pounds.
- Proficient written and spoken English.
- Bilingual ability preferred in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, or other Arizona refugee/immigrant languages.
- Valid driver’s license with active insurance.
- Reliable transportation and availability to travel throughout the service delivery area.
- Eligibility for a fingerprint clearance card as required by Arizona State Law.
- Proof of ability to operate a 15‑passenger van.
A combination of office, remote, and field time within the service delivery area. Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required. Must be able to lift 35–50 pounds.
CompensationThe hourly pay range is $22.23–$22.59. Posted ranges apply to US‑based candidates. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, candidate experience, and skills relative to job requirements.
