Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) Student Worker
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents' needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with St. Joseph the Worker located at 382
E. Palm Lane, Unit 150, Phoenix, AZ, 85004. St. Joseph the Worker's mission is to empower individuals facing significant obstacles to achieve long-term stability through quality employment. The CSLP student worker's work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of St. Joseph the Worker; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May – August).
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/
Essential Functions:
St. Joseph the Worker's Workforce Assistants will be assigned to work at either the Phoenix location (382
E. Palm Lane, Unit 150, Phoenix, AZ, 85004) or the Mesa location (1833 W. Main Street, Suite 128, Mesa, AZ 85201).
St. Joseph the Worker is dedicated to assessing clients' readiness for employment, providing job search assistance, and facilitating connections to transitional housing. The organization's overarching mission is to empower individuals by helping them overcome barriers to securing meaningful and sustainable employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check in clients upon arrival, providing courteous and informative responses to inquiries.
- Support clients in developing and refining their résumés to enhance job readiness.
- Collect, organize, and file all necessary initial client documentation.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of both front and back-office areas.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
- Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Previous Mentoring a plus.
- Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor's program or master's program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
