Position Summary/Purpose
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs. GCU maintains a partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul located at 420 W Watkins Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85003.
St. Vincent de Paul provides services to the homeless, food boxes for the food‑in‑secure, medical/dental care for uninsured patients, and housing/shelter for the unhoused. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).

This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per

675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low‑income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community. As anFWS‑CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non‑GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Schedule / HoursMonday – Friday 12:30pm – 6:30pm
Preferred schedule for this role:
Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM
General Duties:
- Warmly greet and welcome families, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
- Build meaningful connections with families to support ongoing engagement.
- Participate in events, giveaways, raffles, bingo, and other FEM/DC activities.
- Sort and prepare items for giveaways and special events.
- Collaborate with staff to improve program flow and overall family experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Dining Room Operations Support
- Registration and general support
- Serving Uplift Program & Documentation Support
- Taking photos and uploading them for proper documentation
- Assisting families with entering or updating their information in the Uplift system
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance and services (Excel/data entry)
- Supporting program documentation to track engagement and services provided
- MS Office Suite
- Uplift and Jotform (training to be provided)

Qualifications- Must be bilingual in English/Spanish
- Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
- Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
- Demonstrates clear, concise, and effective communication skills across diverse audiences.
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities and consistently meeting deadlines.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full‑time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
- You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
