Workforce Position Summary
St. Vincent de Paul’s Neighborhood Brigade provides a dignified work experience for individuals living in shelter or transitional housing who are interested in taking a first step to enter or re-enter the workforce. Reporting to the Workforce Support Manager, the Neighborhood Brigade Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Neighborhood Brigade activities, including recruiting and coaching Crew Members, organizing approved projects, coordinating schedules and supplies, and maintaining strong communication with community partners and internal teams.
This role supports Crew Members as they build workplace habits, confidence, and practical job skills while connecting them to Case Managers, Navigators, and other resources that support long-term housing and employment stability.
The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a team of staff and volunteers and can think and act quickly when there is a need to pivot or address an operational concern. This candidate understands that Crew Members are learning how to enter or re-enter the workforce and can maintain patience, consistency, and encouragement for the populations we serve. This individual can work independently while ensuring complete and thorough communication with team members and program leadership.
The best candidate for this role is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable coordinating multiple moving parts, and able to encourage follow-through from Crew Members. This individual must be energetic, resourceful, reliable, and able to build respectful working relationships with Crew Members, community partners, neighborhood residents, businesses, and SVdP staff.
- Recruits Crew Members among interim housing/emergency shelter clientele.
- Acts as the Crew Member primary point of support for onboarding and employment requirements, which include a background check, and takes them for their drug screen when necessary.
- Works closely with Workforce Support Manager to ensure that all onboarding items are completed promptly.
- Conducts Neighborhood Brigade Intakes and documents clearly and professionally.
- Ensure that complete and accurate electronic records of guest intakes and exits are generated within 24 hours of interaction.
- Organizes and coordinates neighborhood beautification projects, litter pickups, food service support, and other approved work opportunities for Crew Members.
- Transports crew members to appointments and special project worksites when necessary
- Coordinates with community partners, neighborhood residents, businesses, SVdP departments, and volunteers to support project planning and successful day-to-day operations.
- Promotes great relationships between SVDP, neighborhood residents and businesses.
- Documents program activities , tracks Crew Member work hours , and maintains accurate records to support reporting and program oversight .
- Keeps track of Crew Members hours worked and reports any changes to Workforce Support Manager in a timely manner.
- Monitors, maintains, and distributes inventory of work crew supplies.
- Supports shelter staff with coordinating and conducting activities.
- Communicates concerns and successes appropriately to supervisors and stakeholders.
- Provides documentation, data, and updates to the Workforce Support Manager and Program Manager to support monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting.
